A Study in Wool

We are very excited to welcome Liza Kleinloog from Pull the Wool into the store for her first #MMStudySessions, A Study in Wool, a beanie knitting workshop. We asked Liza to tell us a little bit more about herself as well as the path she’s taken to developing Pull the Wool.

“I come from a background of a variety of creative fields. From advertising to weddings, I have always felt the need to create. But I have had to balance this with my extremely dominant practical side. When I discovered knitting, I found that it fulfilled both my creative and practical sides – I could literally create something I actually wanted to wear. With a desire to move away from my digital addiction (Candy Crush was my rock bottom), a lack of quality yarns and a generation that has lost touch with physical creation, Pull the Wool was born. The contemporary knit kits and workshops aim to reconnect people with the physical, and rediscover these lost crafts, without compromising on quality and style. I hope to unlock the Modern Maker in us all.” – Liza

What to expect

A collaborative and creative afternoon spent learning to make our super chunky Cool Runnings Beanie – a staple in any winter wardrobe. You’ll receive a kit that includes: 1 x 200g skein of Woolly Mammoth Yarn, 1 x set of 12mm wooden knitting needles, 1 x sewing needle and 1 x Cool Runnings Beanie Pattern. We will cover two stitch patterns – Stocking Stitch and 1 x 1 Rib Stitch – as well as how to close up the beanie. A basic knowledge of knitting is beneficial, but we will touch on the basics too, so all levels are welcome. Come and enjoy the inspirational space, reconnect with the physical and learn a practical new skill.
