‘Real Women’ Insight: Willemien

This season saw one of our dream projects become a reality. We had the privilege of putting together 6 amazing Cape Town women to photograph our Mara A\W 17 online look book – Read more about the shoot as well as the ideas and inspiration behind it.

Leading up to and on the day of the shoot, we felt that so many unexpected, positive aspects had organically developed between all the models, that an overall sense of strength and confidence had been portrayed and although the 6 women are all diverse, they shared many similarities. We decided that it was only right to introduce each of these women and give them a chance to voice their thoughts on self confidence and being a women through different stages of life. First of these beautiful women to be introduced is Willemien du Preez.

“I draw inspiration from the students I tutor and strength from my daily walks.”

When asked about the overall shoot experience: “Coming together with real woman for a shoot of the beautiful clothes of Margot Molyneux was an invigorating experience. Each of her garments transformed us to become a woman in a particular place and time, creating a mood and assisting in the magical moment when the camera captured the essence of each woman.”

On being a confident women: “A real woman has narratives written all over her body.  She acquires these through experiencing life in all its fullness. Clothes are the amour of a proud woman, defining her, yielding confidence, assertion and love.”
